MEDHA TAI TOOK THE CLASS OF MANAGEMENT STUDENTS
Internationally fame popular social worker and the provoker of “Narmada Bachao Andolan” Ms Medha Patkar during her single day visit to Jodhpur, advised the management students of Indraprastha College of Management & Technology, Jodhpur (ICMT) to be focused on equality and social justice to become successful.
Known as “Medha Tai” among the villagers, this former lecturer of Tata Institute of social science took the class of management students in the College’s lawn and made them understand the meaning of Corporate Social Responsibility. Expressing her views on present economic condition she said that “We are living in open economy with closed market.” Considering the big problem of economic inequality she said that in a country where Mukesh Ambani earns 40 lakhs per minute, in the same 1.84 Lakh farmers are compelled to commit suicide.
Emphasing over the issue that, backward and scattered areas are important part of the development, she said that the 96% of population that is neglected gives their 60% contribution in GDP. In a very creative way she expressed that we are like scattered dots on blank sheet of this world and if joined together in the right way we can give this world a beautiful picture.
As Ms Patkar reached the campus, she was welcomed with a garland of the cotton thread by Mrs. Lata Choudhary (Principal, ICMT) just to glorify her simplicity.
